LAS VEGAS -- A judge has sealed a public record that discloses what led police investigators to search boxer Mike Tyson's home this week.
A woman told Las Vegas police last week that the former heavyweight champion raped her, but no charges have been filed against Tyson and arrests are not imminent.
Police detectives obtained a search warrant for Tyson's home Wednesday morning and served it later that day.
A list of items police confiscated from the home, along with an affidavit explaining what probable cause police have to believe a crime occurred, was filed Friday in District Court.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Doug Herndon said he asked District Judge Joseph Bonaventure to seal the documents to protect the woman who made the allegation.
"But it's also in deference to Tyson to protect him," Herndon said. "In a normal case, where you're not a celebrity, no one would be looking through these documents." |
