The Oakland Raiders have agreed in principle to trade their fourth-round pick (123rd overall) to the St. Louis Rams for restricted free-agent tight end Roland Williams. Williams will sign a contract Friday to consummate the trade.
One of the more stunning developments in the draft is that Cleveland is strongly considering Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour as the third overall pick, although they are likely to go with Michigan wide receiver David Terrell. But the Browns do have Seymour rated over Florida defensive tackle Gerard Warren.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trying to solve their left-tackle problem by signing ex-Dolphin Richmond Webb, so they're attempting to create salary-cap space by restructuring some contracts. If the Bucs get Webb's deal done, they are eyeing Arizona State tight end Todd Heap with their first-round pick (No. 21). If the Bucs can't sign Webb, they may have to target the Redskins' 15th pick in a trade to draft one of the Michigan linemen, Steve Hutchinson or Jeff Backus.
Jacksonville and Chicago are seriously considering a swap of first-round picks in a trade that would send linebacker Kevin Hardy to the Bears. The Jaguars would then move up from the 13th pick to the Bears' No. 8 spot overall.
Denver and San Francisco are talking about a deal in which the Broncos would trade their first-round pick (24th), second-round pick (58th) and two of their three fourth-round picks for the 49ers' No. 9 overall pick if Cal defensive end Andre Carter is still on the board.
