Wednesday, November 19, 2003 Billy Shaw Billy Shaw was an All-American lineman, who played both ways, at Georgia Tech. The Buffalo Bills of the American Football League and the Dallas Cowboys of the National football league drafted him in 1961. The Bills took Shaw in the second round while the Cowboys took him in the 14th round. Hearing that the Cowboys were going to use him as a linebacker, Shaw decided he wanted to play guard and chose the Bills. He went on to become one of the best and most-honored guards of the 1960s. Shaw's speed, strength, and natural ability made him "the driving force of the offensive unit" according to his former offensive line coach Jerry Smith. He became a key member of the Bills teams that won AFL titles in 1964 and 1965.
