Webber has found a home in Sacramento

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

July 18
Chris Webber
Chris Webber averaged 27.1 ppg and 11.1 rpg last season.
Since he arrived on the scene at the University of Michigan, Chris Webber has been a special player, showing versatility along with unbelievable agility, power and finesse on the baseline. But his development has really exploded during his two years with the Sacramento Kings, where he has become the most dominant power forward in the NBA.

Webber must be excited about being wanted throughout the NBA. It's similar to his days at Detroit's Country Day High School, when he was recruited by everyone before he decided to remain in his home state and became the focal point of Michigan's Fab Five.

But I firmly believe Webber, now an NBA superstar, has found a home with the Kings. In Sacramento, he is treated like royalty and has been able to do his job in a positive way. All indications are that he loves playing in Sacramento, and his family is happy that the Sacramento media has dealt with him in a first-class fashion.

Webber may be entertaining thoughts of going elsewhere, but he would get $120 million over seven years to stay in Sacramento and remain in a system where he is comfortable. And there is nothing like being content and finding comfort in what one does.

With the arrival of Mike Bibby to give the Kings some stability at point guard, it seems Webber's decision to stay would be a natural. Bibby can make perimeter shots on a regular basis and create space for Webber to operate on the interior.

I know Isiah Thomas is recruiting Webber big-time to come play for the Indiana Pacers. According to reports, Thomas was charming the Webber family about him playing with his buddy Jalen Rose again. But when it's all said and done, I think Webber will decide that Sacramento is where he belongs.
