The Blitz: Rocky-topped
ESPN The Magazine

This may be totally crazy. But hey, it's Friday and traffic on the site usually is a little slow. So what the heck, right?

Prediction: Arkansas' D will give Tennessee big problems Saturday, and the Razorbacks will pull the huge upset. The Hogs' secondary will emerge as headliners and make a national rep for themselves. The rookie corner tandem of Ahmad "Batman" Carroll and Lawrence Richardson has as much talent as any bookends in the country and they are the fastest CB duo anywhere. And backup Eddie Jackson, who started 11 games last year as a redshirt freshman and finished third in the SEC 60 and 110-meter hurdles, is big time. Ball-hawking S Ken Hamlin is solid too. He made 104 tackles last season and made the Freshman All-America squad.

The Hogs' D is now run by DC John Thompson and secondary coach Dave Wommack, both former Southern Miss guys who love their chaotic blitzing schemes that rely on lock-down corners. I think they will challenge Vols' QB Casey Clausen and play as much press-man as they did against UNLV's Jason Thomas. Clausen was pretty awful last week against Syracuse, although not as awful as Thomas was against the Hogs. Now, if former ESPN The Magazine Next phenom Cedric Cobbs can just get the Razorbacks' offense going, a Hogs' upset could be the talk of the weekend.
