HAINES CITY, Fla. (AP) _ Reliever Jerry Spradlin retired all 10 batters he faced Thursday in the Kansas City Royals' 10-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

It was the longest outing of the spring for Spradlin, who was acquired in a December trade with San Francisco to help shore up the Royals' bullpen.

``That's the best I've seen him,'' Royals manager Tony Muser said. ``We stretched him out. He was a little surprised he went back out there for the third inning.''

Carlos Febles had four RBIs on a two-run double in the third and a bases-loaded single in the seventh as the Royals rallied from a 4-1 deficit. It was the Royals' ninth win in 11 games.

Mike Sweeney had two doubles to extend his hitting streak to 16 games. Johnny Damon singled and doubled and has an eight-game hitting streak.

Archie Corbin, who is trying to earn a spot in the Royals' bullpen, pitched two hitless innings.

Tigers starter Dave Mlicki took the loss, allowing five runs and eight hits in 5 2-3 innings.

Luis Polonia led off the game with a home run as Royals starter Tyler Green lasted just 3 2-3 innings and gave up 10 hits and four runs.

Tigers first baseman Tony Clark, who entered the game hitting .057, had a run-scoring double in the third to snap an 0-for-24 streak.

Notes: The Royals made three roster moves, optioning LHP Tim Byrdak and OF Dee Brown to Triple-A Omaha and assigning RHP Mike MacDougal, who was a 1999 first-round pick out of Wake Forest, to the minor league complex.
