TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) _ Todd Helton, one of only four Colorado starters not nursing some sort of injury, hit a first-inning grand slam as the Rockies beat the Chicago White Sox 7-3 on Wednesday.

Jeffrey Hammonds added his second homer in as many days for the Rockies, who played without right fielder Larry Walker (pulled right calf muscle), second baseman Mike Lansing (bruised left ankle) and third baseman Jeff Cirillo (strained right quadriceps).

Catcher Brent Mayne has played all spring with lingering bursitis in his left hip. All but Cirillo are expected to play in Colorado's final two exhibition games Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas. Cirillo hopes to play Saturday.

Magglio Ordonez drove in his 23rd run of the spring for the White Sox, who had won eight straight.

Ordonez's RBI groundout in the first was quickly wiped out as Hansel Izquierdo walked the first three Rockies he faced before Helton hit a 1-1 pitch over the right-center field wall.

Izquierdo, who will start the season in the minors, gave up five runs on five hits with four walks and no strikeouts in three innings.

Pedro Astacio, Colorado's opening-day starter, allowed three runs _ two earned _ on 10 hits in seven innings. He walked none and struck out two.
