HAINES CITY, Fla. (AP) _ Mike Sweeney hit a three-run homer in a six-run seventh inning Saturday to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 7-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins in the final exhibition for both teams. Jermaine Dye had a two-run double in the seventh off loser Mark Redman and added an RBI double in the eighth. The Royals won 11 of their last 15 games to finish the spring 18-16, while Minnesota was 17-17. Sweeney hit safely in 21 of his last 25 games, going 33-for-80 for a .413 average during that stretch. He scored 13 runs in the last 12 games. Joe Mays, who started last season in the bullpen before moving into the Minnesota rotation in June, pitched five shutout innings for the Twins. Rookie right-hander Chad Durbin, the Royals' fourth starter, allowed one unearned run and three hits in five innings. In the third, Minnesota's Todd Walker led off with a double and advanced on Cristian Guzman's sacrifice bunt. After Durbin struck out Matt Lawton, Walker scored when Pose dropped Butch Huskey's fly to right. The Royals made their final roster cut Saturday, reassigning catcher Jorge Fabregas, who played last season with Atlanta and Florida, to the minor league camp. Fabregas will begin the season with Triple-A Omaha.
