PHOENIX (AP) -- Mike Morgan not only became the 25th major leaguer to play in four decades, he also got his first save in nine seasons. "I've been starting all those years," said Morgan, who pitched four scoreless innings Wednesday night as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Philadelphia Phillies 11-3. Morgan relieved starting the sixth and allowed three hits in four scoreless innings for his fourth career save, his first since July 7, 1991, with Los Angeles. Arizona is Morgan's 12th team, a record in any U.S. major league. "With this club, I'll come in where needed," he said. "I'm a pretty good starter, but they've got five good starters here." Morgan also singled in his only at-bat, his 48th hit in 480 career at-bats and his first since last July 10 for Texas at San Diego. Lenny Harris hit a grand slam during a six-run first inning, and Travis Lee had a solo shot for the Diamondbacks. Todd Stottlemyre (1-0), who worked out daily during the offseason to strengthen an unrepaired tear in his right rotator cuff, gave up three runs and six hits -- including Scott Rolen's second solo homer in two games -- in five innings. "Offensively, this club is so good (No.) 1 through 8 that it's amazing," Todd Stottlemyre said. He doesn't mind long rests between innings -- as long as his teammates are scoring. "You're going to have to deal with it," he said. "We're going to have a lot of long innings this year. I'll find ways to stay loose." Manager Buck Showalter thought Stottlemyre's experience in dealing with his shoulder, injured last May 17, helped out. "A lot of pitchers wouldn't be able to figure out a way to get through those five, but he did," Showalter said. Philadelphia starter Paul Byrd (0-1) got just two outs, giving up six runs, three hits and four walks. "I just never got going," Byrd said. "It was very, very frustrating. I had no command. My breaking ball wasn't there, and I wasn't throwing my fastballs for strikes." Tony Womack tripled on Byrd's third pitch and scored on Jay Bell's sacrifice fly. Byrd walked Luis Gonzalez and Erubiel Durazo, and Steve Finley had RBI single. Lee walked to load the bases and Harris followed with his third career slam. "No matter what I do, I'm just holding this spot for Matt (Williams)," Harris said. "I'm just trying to do the things I do, play hard and, hopefully, I'll continue to play well." Philadelphia made it 6-3 in the second on Rolen's homer, Mickey Morandini's RBI single and Desi Relaford's run-scoring, double-play grounder. "Three runs got us back in the game," Phillies manager Terry Francona said. "If we could have scored again before they did, it would have been a whole different story." Instead, Kelly Stinnett hit a two-run double off Amaury Telemaco in the third, and the Diamondbacks' pitching settled in. Lee homered off Wayne Gomes in the seventh. Lee added a sacrifice fly in the eighth and Finley had an RBI single. Game notesHarris' slam was Arizona's 14th in two-plus seasons. history. ... Finley, who was 4-for-4 in the opener, had a broken-bat single in the first for his fifth consecutive hit before his first out of the season -- a fly ball to center in the second. ... Morandini, who spent the last two years with the Chicago Cubs, saw action for the first time on his second tour with the Phillies.
