DENVER (AP) -- Mike Lansing's toughest task was getting a single.

Lansing had a triple, home run and double in the first three innings against Arizona on Sunday. He then singled in the fourth inning to hit for the cycle, and the Rockies had 23 hits in a 19-2 rout of the Diamondbacks.

"Everyone knew what was going on," Lansing said. "I hit it in a good spot, but you have to try not to do too much -- hit one somewhere in the gap, and you have to go into second."

	After finishing under .500 last year, the Rockies are now tied for first in the NL West. They are 25-8 at home, 12-19 on the road. A look at Colorado's average runs scored and runs allowed per game at home and on the road the past two seasons:

"I never had a cycle, never at any level," Lansing said. "It's particularly satisfying to have a big game when we needed it."

Colorado, which moved into first place for the first time in four years, tied its record for runs set against Atlanta on June 7, 1996.

"I can't explain the hitting," Colorado manager Buddy Bell said after the Rockies compiled 33 runs and 40 hits in two games. "I have never seen a cycle before after four innings, and Brent Mayne came within a triple of us having two in one game."

Jeff Cirillo was 5-for-6 with a home run and four RBI, and Mayne went 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and three RBI.

	After four at-bats and four innings, Mike Lansing had his first cycle. He finished with five RBI.

The Rockies (37-27), who moved two percentage points ahead of the Diamondbacks (39-29), had not been in first place since July 26, 1996. Colorado moved 10 games over .500 for the first time since May 8, 1997 (21-11).

Arizona, which lost its third straight, gave up a team record for runs, three more than it allowed against Texas on June 23, 1998.

"There is not a whole lot you can get over-analytical about the way they are playing," Arizona manager Buck Showalter said. "We haven't been swinging the bats as we did earlier in the year and certainly not producing the runs that you need to combat 19."

Masato Yoshii (2-7) allowed two runs and seven hits in seven innings, while Reynoso was pounded for nine runs and 10 hits in two-plus innings.

Lansing's triple and Larry Walker's RBI grounder put Colorado ahead in the first.

Greg Colbrunn's homer cut it to 2-1 in the second, but Lansing's two-out homer and Tom Goodwin's RBI grounder boosted the lead to 5-1 in the bottom half.

Colorado chased Reynoso before he could retire a batter in what became a nine-run third inning. Jeffrey Hammonds hit an RBI single, Mayne a two-run double, and Neifi Perez greeted Daal with a run-scoring single. Lansing added a two-run double and Cirillo a two-run homer.

"It wasn't my day," Reynoso said. "I tried to throw strikes and everything I threw hit back."
