Hayes' homer helps Brewers hook Marlins

RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME LOG

MIAMI (AP) -- John Snyder pitched two-hit shutout ball over six innings, and Charlie Hayes hit a two-run homer, leading the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-1 victory over the Florida Marlins on Thursday night and a split of the four-game series.

Snyder (3-2), who has won his last three starts, gave up just two singles. He struck out four and walked six.

Luis Lopez hit a solo homer in the first and Hayes, who ended an 0-for-20 skid Wednesday, ripped a two-run homer over the left-field scoreboard in the fourth for a 3-0 lead. Lopez singled and scored ahead of Hayes' sixth homer of the season.

Geoff Jenkins, a seventh-inning defensive replacement in left field, hit his 13th homer, a solo shot, leading off the eighth against reliever Vic Darensbourg. It was the second consecutive night the Brewers hit three homers.

Henry Blanco's two-run double in the ninth capped the scoring.

Jesus Sanchez (4-6), who has five losses and three no-decisions in his last eight starts, gave up six hits and three runs in 6 1/3 innings, with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Snyder got out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the fourth by striking out Andy Fox and Paul Bako.

Bako hit a one-out single in the seventh off reliever Juan Acevedo and scored on Mark Kotsay's two-out triple for the Marlins' lone run.
