MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Matt Lawton singled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning Tuesday night as the Minnesota Twins beat the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2. Cristian Guzman doubled and Jay Canizaro walked before Lawton's hit. Guzman slid home just ahead of the throw from left fielder Shawon Dunston. Brad Radke (7-10) allowed eight hits in eight innings. He struck out six and walked two in winning back-to-back starts for the first time since April 18-23. LaTroy Hawkins pitched the ninth and earned his sixth save in as many chances. Andy Benes (10-4) gave up seven hits in his first complete game of the season. He walked five and struck out four. The Twins turned four double plays but hit into three. Minnesota also had two runners thrown out by St. Louis catcher Mike Matheny, who got David Ortiz at second base with no outs in the seventh and score tied at 2. Cardinals outfielder Eric Davis was ejected in the fourth after arguing with home plate umpire Mike Winters. Davis struck out looking in the first and fourth innings, and had an eight-game hitting streak snapped. Benes blanked the Twins on one hit for five innings before a wild throw helped the Twins score twice in the sixth to make it 2-all. Chad Moeller led off with a single and scored when third baseman Craig Paquette threw Guzman's infield hit into right field. Guzman took third on the two-base error and scored on Canizaro's groundout. The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on consecutive singles by Placido Polanco, Fernando Vina and Paquette. They made it 2-0 in the fifth inning on singles by Polanco and Vina and Paquette's sacrifice fly. Game notesThe Cardinals went 7-8 in interleague play this season, the same record they had last year. ... The Twins were 7-11 in interleague games. ... Minnesota played again without manager Tom Kelly, who has missed all six games since the All-Star break.
