MILWAUKEE (AP) -- One inning after costing hurting his team with a baserunning mistake, Ron Belliard got the winning hit. "It feels good, it feels good for me and for my teammates," Belliard said Sunday after his 10th-inning double led the Milwaukee Brewers over the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3. Shawon Dunston's third-inning homer, his 11th of the season, put St. Louis ahead 3-2, but Luis Lopez tied it with two outs in the ninth off Mike Timlin, who blew a save for the sixth time in 18 chances. Timlin got out of the inning by striking out Jeromy Burnitz with the bases loaded. Andy Benes (10-8) walked Jose Hernandez leading off the 10th, Tyler Houston sacrificed and Belliard hit a liner of the glove of Dunston, backpedaling in right. In the ninth, Belliard came into the game as a pinch-runner following Raul Casanova's leadoff double and was hit by Charlie Hayes' grounder, which left the Brewers with a runner on first and one out. "We all make mistakes," Brewers manager Davey Lopes said. "He realized that. Nobody felt worse than he did. He put it in the proper perspective. He got the game-winning hit, which says a lot about his makeup." Dunston was in right field because Jim Edmonds injured his right ring finger when a folding chair collapsed while he was watching football on television in the clubhouse. "We fought hard, that's all you can do," Dunston said. "They kept battling, battling. And they didn't lay down because it was us. That's why you play nine innings." Ray King (2-2) pitched a perfect 10th, helping send St. Louis to just its third loss in 11 games. Rookie Britt Reames, in his first appearance against Milwaukee, allowed two runs and three hits in six innings, struck out seven and walking two. Brewers starter Jamey Wright gave up three runs and seven hits in seven innings. Mark McGwire started at second base for the third straight game and was hit on the left shoulder on Wright's first pitch to him, then was replaced by pinch-runner Placido Polanco. McGwire, who had been on the disabled list since July 11 because of patella tendinitis in his right knee, was activated last week and St. Louis is limiting him to first-inning at-bats. Dunston, who went 4-for-5, singled later in the inning, and Fernando Tatis and Eduardo Perez hit RBI singles for a 2-0 lead. Richie Sexson and Burnitz tied the score with consecutive home runs in the second. Sexson has 27 homers, including 11 since Milwaukee acquired him from Cleveland on July 28. Burnitz hit a 456-foot drive, his 25th homer. Game notesSexson has a career-high 11-game hitting streak. ....
