NEW YORK -- Arizona manager Bob Brenly made some of his Diamondbacks players a little extra money by picking them for the All-Star team.

Randy Johnson, Curt Schilling, Luis Gonzalez and Damian Miller each got $50,000 bonuses because Brenly chose them for the NL team this week. Junior Spivey and Byung-Hyun Kim, the other Diamondbacks selected by Brenly, don't earn any extra money.

In all, 37 of the 60 All-Stars will receive bonuses this year ranging from $10,000 to $100,000, according to a survey of their contracts by The Associated Press. The total bonus amount was $1,525,000.

The biggest winners are Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants, Alex Rodriguez of the Texas Rangers, Shawn Green of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Omar Vizquel of the Cleveland Indians, who will receive $100,000 each.

Manny Ramirez of the Boston Red Sox earned $75,000.

Only one of the six New York Yankees that Joe Torre will manage on the AL team Tuesday in Milwaukee got a bonus. Robin Ventura will receive $50,000 based on the contract he signed with the New York Mets before the 1999 season.

Three players earned raises in future years by virtue of making the team, led by Anaheim's Garret Anderson, who will receive an extra $350,000 in each of the next two years. Anderson will now make $5,350,000 in 2003 and $5,850,000 in '04.

Montreal's Jose Vidro gets a $500,000 raise on his 2004 salary of $7 million and Milwaukee's Richie Sexson gets a $300,000 raise on his 2004 salary of $8 million. Each player also gets a $25,000 bonus this season.

Twelve players received $50,000 bonuses, 16 earned $25,000, two got $15,000, and two ended up with $10,000.

Twenty-three of the 60 players picked for the game do not receive bonus money.
