Chipper's wife gives birth to a son

ESPN.com news services

NEW YORK -- Braves third baseman Chipper Jones was back with the Braves on Saturday, and in the starting lineup against the New York Mets.

Jones missed Friday night's game against the Mets after returning to Atlanta, where doctors induced labor in his wife, Sharon, who gave birth to their son, Larry Wayne Jones III, at 11:26 p.m. Friday in Atlanta. Larry III weighed 9 pounds, 14 ounces.

Jones leads the Braves with a .324 average, and he has 19 homers and 60 RBIs. To replace him Friday, former Met Bobby Bonilla made his first start of the season at third base.

Jones and Sharon Logonov were married March 26 in his hometown of Pierson, Fla. It is the second marriage for Jones, whose divorce from his first wife, Karin, was finalized earlier this year.
