NEW YORK -- Right after Roger Clemens beaned Mike Piazza, the pitcher had a curious passenger on his private plane back to Texas for the All-Star break, according to a published report -- Darryl Hamilton of the Mets.

Hamilton joined New York Yankees pitchers Andy Pettitte, Mike Stanton and Clemens on the flight to their Houston-area homes, Newsday reported Saturday.

"It wasn't awkward at all," Pettitte said. "We had a good time."

The beaning last Saturday night set off a wave of bad blood between the Subway Series rivals.

Mets general manager Steve Phillips barred pitcher Al Leiter from traveling on the Yankees' charter to the All-Star game. The Mets also blocked the Yankees from using the weight room at Shea Stadium before Sunday night's game.

Hamilton has been on the disabled list since the first week of the season. It is uncertain when the outfielder will be able to play again.

Mets assistant general manager Jim Duquette seemed surprised when told before Friday night's game in Boston of Hamilton's travel route.

"If that's accurate, it will be interesting to see what the reaction is from the players," he said.

Pettitte said it would be wrong to blame Hamilton.

"He lives right down the street from Roger," he said. "We're going home."
