Morgan to serve on Hall of Fame board

Associated Press

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. -- Jane Forbes Clark was elected chairman of the board at the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Monday, and Hall member Joe Morgan was elected vice chair.

The third generation of the Hall's founding family, Clark has been a board member since 1992 and vice chairman since 1993. She is among the highest-ranking women in baseball; Wendy Selig-Prieb is president of the Milwaukee Brewers.

"My family has cared very much for the Hall of Fame since founding it in 1939 and I look forward to continuing that stewardship," said Clark, who is also a director of the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Morgan's election wraps up a weekend of honors for the former Big Red Machine. On Sunday, Reds first baseman Tony Perez and manager Sparky Anderson were inducted into the Hall, and announcer Marty Brennaman was enshrined in the broadcaster's wing.

Longtime Hall chairman Edward Stack will remain a board member. Also added to the board are Kansas City Royals chairman David Glass and former player and NL president Bill White.

Former league presidents Leonard Coleman and Gene Budig concluded their board terms. St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist Bob Broeg, who also finished his term, was elected honorary director in recognition of his 28 years of service.
