Saberhagen allows two runs in three innings

Associated Press

TRENTON, N.J. -- Bret Saberhagen made his fourth rehab start, pitching three innings for the Trenton Thunder in a 3-2 victory over the Norwich Navigators in an Eastern League game Monday.

Saberhagen started the game and gave up one hit and two runs for Trenton, the Double-A affiliate for the Boston Red Sox.

The Navigators scored their runs in the first inning when Paul Ottavinia hit a two-run homer off Saberhagen. The home run came after Saberhagen walked leadoff hitter Donzell McDonald.

The two-time Cy Young Award winner had surgery on his rotator cuff during the winter, and has not pitched for Boston this season.

Saberhagen won 25 games for the Red Sox over the 1998 and 1999 seasons.
