Pinch-hit homer record stood since '32

Associated Press

PHOENIX -- Dave Hansen hit his seventh pinch-hit home run of the season Tuesday night for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Arizona Diamondbacks, breaking a 68-year-old major league record.

Hansen's homer off Curt Schilling, his eighth of the season, broke Johnny Frederick's major league record for pinch-hit homers in a single season. Frederick hit six pinch-hit home runs for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1932.

Hansen, who owns the Dodgers' franchise record for career pinch-hit homers with 11, is second on Los Angeles' career pinch hit list with 89.
