TORONTO (AP) -- Vince Carter sent a 47-point message to the U.S. Olympic team selection committee, with a bloody nose for Ray Allen thrown in for good measure.

Vince Carter flushes two of his 47 points.

Carter, facing Allen for the first time since Allen was selected over him for the U.S. Olympic team, scored a career-high 47 points as the Toronto Raptors beat Milwaukee 115-110 Friday night.

Carter, who shot 20-for-32 from the field, set a franchise record and totaled the most points in an NBA game this season. The previous high was 46 by Allen Iverson and Tim Duncan.

Toronto's star forward, whose dream was to play at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, gave Allen a bloody nose in the first quarter with an elbow. Allen went down in a heap and ran off the court. No foul was called.

"There was no question about what was going on with the Olympic thing," Allen said. "The first play of the game they went right at me. Next time it won't be me hitting the floor. Getting an elbow on top of the head is uncalled for. That's the most my nose has ever bled."

After making an assortment of jumpers and jams, Carter scowled each time he ran back on defense.

Teammate Antonio Davis said it was the first time Carter openly showed his emotions about not making the team.

"Vince usually smiles a lot, this time he was pumping his fists and trying to flex his muscles," Davis said. "I was waiting for him to show his true feelings. It was going to take something, and maybe it was Ray Allen. It just goes to show maybe he deserves to be on that team."

Carter tried to deny he was motivated by that.

"I took a little time for myself today, a little more than usual," Carter said. "No statement, it was just basketball."

Doug Christie added 20 points for the Raptors, Tracy McGrady scored 15 off the bench and Muggsy Bogues finished with 12.

Glenn Robinson had 37, Allen scored 25 and Sam Cassell 24 for the Bucks.

Carter scored 23 points in the first half, setting a franchise record with 11 field goals.

The Bucks began the second half with a 10-0 run and led 68-58, but Carter scored Toronto's next eight points on jumpers and Christie made a 3-pointer to bring the Raptors within three.

The Raptors began the fourth quarter with a 9-0 run as Carter scored seven points, including a dunk after his own miss. Bouges' open jumper with 8:33 left made it 93-83.

The Bucks came storming back with an 11-2 run. Robinson sparked the run with a three-point play, and Cassell's jumper with 4:56 remaining made it 95-94.

The Raptors followed with a 6-0 run that included a spectacular windmill jam from Carter.

The Bucks, however, came back again and closed within five with less than 30 seconds left on Tim Thomas' 3-pointer. After Bogues made two free throws, Allen made a layup to make it 113-108. Toronto's Tracy McGrady then missed both his free throws and Allen followed with a dunk to make it 113-110. Bogues then made two free throws for a five-point lead.

Allen was clearly miffed after the game.

"I've never been knocked around like that before," Allen said. "I'll remember tomorrow."

The Bucks and Raptors play again on Saturday night in Milwaukee.

Asked about the elbow on Allen, Carter said: "I didn't feel it. I didn't even know Allen was there. It happens."

Milwaukee coach George Karl disagreed.

"Toronto knew what they were doing -- everyone in the building knew what they were doing -- except the refs."
