HOUSTON (AP) -- The Houston Rockets' 107-102 victory over the
Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night was the kind of game Shandon Anderson longs for.

"This is my style of game. It was aggressive and uptempo,"
Anderson said after leading the Rockets with 25 points. "Our big
guys did a good job of kicking the ball out to the guards. There
are going to be some games where I'm scoring and rebounding and
others when I'm basically passing to help the team win. Tonight I
was scoring."
It was the third time in the last six games and the sixth time
this season that Anderson has led the Rockets in scoring.
Cuttino Mobley had 21 points off the bench for Houston while
Kenny Thomas contributed 17 and Walt Williams 13.
Jerry Stackhouse was the top scorer for Detroit with 29 points
followed by Grant Hill with 23, Lindsey Hunter with 19 and Christian Laettner with 16.
Hill also grabbed 11 rebounds.
"It's frustrating. We are better players than we are showing,"
Hill said. "We are putting too much pressure on our offense by not
playing defense as a team. It's amazing that we have a .500 record
considering where our defense is."
With the Rockets leading 79-74 going into the fourth period,
Anderson scored six points in the first 3½ minutes to help Houston
take a 89-79 lead with 8:31 left.
After trailing by 14 at the half, Detroit cut its deficit to
79-74 going into the final quarter. Stackhouse had 11 third-quarter
points.
Mobley came off the bench to score 14 second-period points, as Houston outscored the Pistons 28-22 to take a 55-41 advantage at the half.
A 3-point shot by Mobley gave Houston a 40-25 lead with 7:20
left in the first half. Mobley connected on another 3-point shot at
the 2:50 mark as the Rockets moved ahead 50-33.
Game notes
Hakeem Olajuwon played in his 1,101th game. He is one of
only six players who have played 1,100 or more games for one team.
The others are Hal Greer, John Havlicek, Karl Malone, Robert Parish
and John Stockton. ... Olajuwon needs only 69 rebounds to surpass Jerry Lucas (12,942) for 11th place on the NBA's all-time
rebounding list. ... Stackhouse's 18.5 point career average is the
highest for any player taken in the 1995 NBA draft, which included
Kevin Garnett, Joe Smith, Rasheed Wallace, Michael Finley and Damon Stoudamire.
