SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The Portland Trail Blazers closed the exhibition season as the only unbeaten team as they held off a late rally by the Sacramento Kings for a 103-96 victory. Steve Smith scored 19 points and Damon Stoudamire added 16 as the Trail Blazers closed the preseason 8-0 and scored at least 100 points five times. Rasheed Wallace scored 14 points while Detlef Schrempf and Greg Anthony added 11 apiece. Jason Williams buried a 3-pointer with 46 seconds left to bring Sacramento (3-5) within 98-96, closing a 6-0 run. Gary Grant ended that spurt when he canned a jumper with 25 seconds left for a four-point cushion. Vlade Divac missed a 3-pointer and Anthony hit a pair of free throws to give Portland a 102-96 lead. Grant converted 1-of-2 foul shots with 6.9 seconds remaining to close the scoring. Portland was without center Arvydas Sabonis, who did not play due to a sore leg. Injured forwards Brian Grant and Scottie Pippen were not with the team. Divac had 17 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Kings and Jon Barry added 16 points in 22 minutes. Williams scored 14 points as Sacramento allowed 100 points for the fifth time in the preseason.
