BOX SCORE
TORONTO (AP) _ Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points and the Dallas Mavericks beat the Toronto Raptors 99-94 in an exhibition game Wednesday night. Nowitzki, who had 33 points in Friday's win over Detroit, was 4-of-6 from 3-point range as Dallas finished 8-of-16 from beyond the arc. The 6-foot-11 forward scored 13 points in the third quarter. Vince Carter led Toronto with 30 points and Alvin Williams added 18. The Raptors were within two points with 3:39 remaining, but Carter left Steve Nash open for a 3-pointer. Carter followed with a layup, but Hubert Davis made a 3-pointer to give Dallas a 94-88 lead. Carter missed two free throws but scored on a putback to make it 94-90. After Greg Buckner made a layup with just over a minute remaining, Carter followed an offensive rebound and a putback. Michael Finley, who had 19 points, made one of two free throws, and Nash made two to complete the scoring. Before the game, Nash was honored for leading Canada to a surprising quarterfinal berth in the recent Olympics. Nash has changed his number from 13 to 7 _ the number he wore in Sydney _ to honor his Olympic teammates.
