Raptors have franchise-high 41 in third

RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME FLOW

TORONTO (AP) -- The Toronto Raptors didn't have to rely solely on Vince Carter to avenge an embarrassing loss to the Boston Celtics.

Vince Carter
Vince Carter led the Raptors with 23 points but praised Mark Jackson for his 15 assists Tuesday.

Antonio Davis had 24 points, Corliss Williamson scored 21 and Mark Jackson had 15 assists as the Raptors beat Boston 105-75 on Tuesday night.

"It was a team effort, and that's what we needed," said Carter, who had 23 points.

The Raptors, who lost to the Celtics last Friday after blowing a 21-point lead, scored a franchise-record 41 points in the third quarter.

"That game in Boston was very frustrating, so we needed this game," Jackson said.

Carter had 15 points and Jackson had eight of his 15 assists in the third quarter for the Raptors, who outscored Boston 41-18 in the period.

"Mark was a big key. He was finding guys and guys were making shots," Carter said.

The Raptors went on a 17-2 run midway through the period as Davis made a layup and a free throw, Carter hit a 3-pointer, and Davis made another layup. After Williamson made two free throws and a short jumper, Carter made a 3-pointer and two long jumpers, giving Toronto a 75-50 lead.

"Mark did a great job of running the show," Toronto coach Lenny Wilkens said. "It was an outstanding quarter for him. He read everything, and he got the ball to everybody, and that's what he can do for us."

Williamson, who has struggled since being acquired from Sacramento for Doug Christie, also had a season-high six rebounds.

"It's only one game. I can't be happy or satisfied until a put a string of games like this together," Williamson. "To come here and start off the way I did, I was kind of shaking my head wondering what's going on."

Antoine Walker led Boston with 12 points. Paul Pierce was limited to 10 points for the second straight game.

"It was our poorest game defensively all season," Boston coach Rick Pitino said. "I told them that if offense was going to dictate this season, it will be a long season."

Davis scored 11 points and Williamson had 10 as Toronto led 48-40 at the half.

Jackson did a shimmy after Williamson converted Jackson's no-look, behind-the-back pass for a layup in the first quarter.

Game notes
Carter has not missed a game in his NBA career, playing 136 straight. ... Kenny Anderson is expected to miss two to four weeks with a fractured jaw. Williams, who collided with Cleveland's Lamond Murray last Saturday, will have a wisdom tooth extracted and his jaw wired. Randy Brown started in Anderson's place, shot 0-for-8 and failed to score. The Celtics also signed guard Rick Brunson.
