OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- On another night, Rasheed Wallace and the
Portland Trail Blazers might have snapped. This time, they took a
deep breath and focused their energy on another victory.

Wallace shook off a sprained right wrist and yet another
technical foul to get 29 points and 11 rebounds as the Blazers beat
the Golden State Warriors 101-93 Tuesday night.
"We had a couple of chances to blow our tops with some calls,
but we handled it pretty well, I guess," Portland coach Mike
Dunleavy said. "It got a little wild, but (Wallace) recovered just
fine."
Portland won for the third time in four games while preparing
for the showdown Wednesday night with the world champion Los Angeles
Lakers in the Rose Garden. The Blazers beat the Warriors for the
fifth consecutive time and never trailed in the final three quarters
for a fairly easy victory.
But they also lived up to their reputation for volatility in the
fourth quarter, when Shawn Kemp was ejected with 9:27 left and
Wallace nearly followed him 41 seconds later.
Kemp was called for a flagrant foul against Antawn Jamison, and
he flung the ball to the other end of the court before arguing with
referee Steve Javie, who threw him out.
"It's a crazy game," Kemp said. "Some things you just have to
live with."
Wallace then was called for a flagrant foul against Marc
Jackson, and Javie gave the league's technicals leader his 12th of
the season. But Wallace didn't pursue the issue, and he finished
with eight points in the final period.
"I thought Shawn made a play on the ball," Dunleavy said.
"And I thought Rasheed fouled him, but I didn't think it was
anything unusual."
When asked about his newfound composure, Wallace didn't exactly
clear things up.
"Cheaters never win, that's all," he said with a blank stare.
"They stayed in the game with second shots, so we had to cut down
on their second shots."
Golden State pulled to 90-86 on Jackson's 3-pointer with 4:07
left, but Wallace and Arvydas Sabonis, who had 15 points, combined
for 11 in the closing minutes as Portland held off the
injury-plagued Warriors.
"Our problem was getting it out of (Wallace's) hands there at
the end of the game," Warriors coach Dave Cowens said. "He's one
of the premiere players in our league."
Jackson had a career-high 27 points, and Jamison had 30 points
and 15 rebounds for Golden State, which lost its third in a row.
The Warriors played without Bob Sura, Erick Dampier, Chris Mills
and Chris Mullin, while Adonal Foyle played but couldn't grip the
ball with his heavily wrapped right hand.
Because of the injury problems that have plagued them for years,
the Warriors started two first-year players, Jackson and Chris
Porter. Sura, who missed the season's first 10 games with back
problems, didn't dress because of a strained hamstring, while Mills
and Mullin are on the injured list with Danny Fortson.
Larry Hughes missed his first eight shots on the way to a
horrific 4-for-24 performance, while the Warriors got just three
points from their reserves. Jackson, who has become Golden State's
starting center because of the injuries, hit an array of outside
shots and finished 11-for-15 from the field.
"I didn't come here to sit on the bench," said Jackson, who
left Temple in 1997 and played three seasons in Turkey and Spain
before making the Warriors' roster during training camp. "I got my
chance to play, and I want to contribute to the team."
Damon Stoudamire had 13 points and nine assists for Portland,
and Bonzi Wells added 10 points. Mookie Blaylock, who lost his
starting job to Sura last week, had 16 points for the Warriors.
Game notes Portland scored in the final 1.9 seconds of each of the
first three quarters.
