MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The so-called Big Three shared the ball in the
Bradley Center on Monday night and led the Milwaukee Bucks to a 102-98
victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
| | Milwaukee's Sam Cassell goes up between San Antonio's David Robinson (50) and Tim Duncan.

Glenn Robinson and Ray Allen each scored 23 points and Sam
Cassell added 22 as the Bucks snapped the Spurs' four-game winning
streak, outshooting San Antonio 53.2 percent to 47 percent.
Derek Anderson had 25 points, and Tim Duncan 23 points and 13
rebounds for the Spurs. Duncan was only 10-for-26 from the floor and
David Robinson 5-for-15. The setback knocked the Spurs out of the top spot in the Midwest Division, where they have a 35-17 record compared to Utah at 35-16 after beating Utah 114-99 Monday.
"We have three or four guys on this team that can score," said
Cassell, who also had nine assists. "They have guys who can score,
too, but teams that try to outshoot and outscore us are going to
have trouble beating us.
"Tonight, we shared the ball real well. My job is to get the
ball to the guys who can score. When I'm scoring, it gives the
other team one more guy to worry about."
Robinson's jump shot with 49.9 seconds left gave the Bucks the
lead for good at 100-98. He made a steal on the other end of the
court with 35 seconds remaining.
Milwaukee ran the clock down until Robinson missed a jumper. But
Ervin Johnson saved the ball from going out of bounds and passed to
Allen.
"That was a big play," Duncan said. "We were getting away
from the rim for it (the ball) to bounce back, but he (Johnson)
just happened to be under the rim and got it. It was the luck of
the bounce."
As the Bucks ran more time off the clock, Tim Thomas was fouled
and made one of two free throws to make it 101-98.
Anderson missed a 3-point attempt with 3.2 seconds left. After a
timeout, Cassell made one of two free throws for the final score.
Milwaukee coach George Karl said the tempo suited the Bucks.
"We didn't want to let them get us into a slow game," said
Karl, whose team improved to 31-20. "We didn't want to be in the
80s. We wanted to play up-tempo."
The score was tied five times in the third quarter. San Antonio
finished the quarter with a 10-4 run to take a 79-76 lead into the
final 12 minutes.
"Both teams really competed well," said San Antonio coach
Gregg Popovich, whose team is 35-17. "We looked good going into
the third quarter, but they made a couple shots down the stretch
and we made a couple mistakes. That's the difference in basketball
games."
The Spurs led 32-26 at the end of the first quarter, in large
part because they forced the Bucks into seven turnovers in the
period. But Milwaukee went on a 9-0 run, capped by Thomas'
3-pointer with 1:17 left in the first half, to take a 54-45 lead.
San Antonio countered with a 5-0 run, and Terry Porter made a
layup at the buzzer to pull the Spurs to 54-50 at halftime.
Game notes Jason Caffey started at forward for the first time in weeks
for the Bucks and had nine rebounds before fouling out. ... The
Bucks were 11-for-19 from 3-point range. ... Antonio Daniels started
as a third guard for the Spurs and scored 17 points. Derek Anderson
moved to small forward. ... Duncan had his NBA-leading 42nd
double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
