Decided to leave Iowa State basketball program instead of returning as a fifth-year senior. Originally recruited to Iowa State by former head coach Tim Floyd, now head coach of the Chicago Bulls.

During the ongoing 2000 season in New Zealand, is playing for the Nelson Giants. Began season with a 23-rebound performance in first game. In 1999, played 10 games in New Zealand Basketball League for Taranaki Oilers. Named Rookie of the Year after averaging 13.2 ppg and 7.3 rpg in 27.8 minutes per game. Finished sixth in the league in blocked shots (1.10 bpg) and seventh in field goal percentage (56.5%).

As a junior at Iowa State, saw limited playing time. Averaged 1.3 ppg and 1.8 rpg. Scored a season-high eight points and grabbed six rebounds against Southern-New Orleans, sinking a career-best 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Recorded seven points on 3-for-5 shooting vs. Arizona. Posted season-high seven rebounds in 12 minutes in his only start of the year at Texas. Recorded six boards (three offensive) at Colorado. Notched four points and five rebounds while tying a career-high with three blocks against Chicago State.

As a sophomore in 1996-97, was named Iowa State's Most Improved Player after starting eight games and establishing career highs in games (30), points (98), rebounds (69), blocked shots (11), field goal percentage (.561) and free throw percentage (.557). Team was 7-1 when he started. Played well both games against Missouri, shooting 4-for-5 (eight points) in the first game and 4-for-4 (eight points) in the second contest. Tied a career high with three blocks against both Alcorn State and East Tennessee State. Hauled in a career-high 12 rebounds against Alcorn State. Opened season by averaging 7.8 points in the first five games and closed season by hitting his last 11 shots from the field (covering 15 games). Named Academic All-Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention and received Iowa State Athletic Council Academic Award.

As a freshman, played in 19 games, starting six of the first seven contests of the year. Notched 11 rebounds in first college game against Central Connecticut State. Logged a career-high 30 minutes and scored a career-high 10 points at Drake. Averaged 10.4 minutes per game.
