Claxton is an exciting player who can fly up and down the floor, and he blows by defenders with ease. Because he did not play against great competition every night, there are still some questions about him. Named Honorable Mention All-America by The Associated Press as a senior. Became just the fourth player in school history to surpass 2,000 points, finishing with 2,015. Was twice named America East Player of the Year, as a senior and as a sophomore. Concluded career as Hofstra's all-time leader in assists with 660 and steals with 288. Also holds the record for steals in a season with 102. At Nike Desert Classic, hit 12 of 17 shots and averaged 9.0 ppg and 3.0 apg.

College highlights at Hofstra
As a senior, led Flying Dutchmen to the NCAA Tournament. Tallied 20 points, seven assists, four rebounds and three steals in a first round loss to Oklahoma State. Had 24 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals in Hofstra's win over Delaware in the America East championship game. Ranked ninth in the nation in scoring (22.8 ppg). Scored a career-high 40 points in back-to-back wins over Maine and Hartford. Had a streak of six straight games with at least 29 points. Scored 39 points in a win over Iona. Finished tied for 28th in the nation in assists with an average of 6.0 apg and was seventh in the nation in steals (3.3 spg).

As a junior, finished second on team in scoring (13.3 ppg), first in assists (5.3 apg) and steals (2.3 spg). Was an All-America East First Team selection and an All-Metropolitan New York First Team selection. Posted a season-high 28 points vs. Maine. Had a double-double vs. Towson with 20 points and 10 assists. Scored his 1,000th career point at Youngstown State. Tied a school record with eight steals vs. New Hampshire. Averaged 16.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game in conference play.

Voted America East Player of the Year as a sophomore after leading Hofstra in scoring (16.3) and assists (7.0). Led the team in scoring on 17 occasions. Had then career-high 33 points and 10 assists in an America East Tournament quarterfinal win over Hartford. Twice named America East Player of the Week. Led the conference in assists, was second in steals, and was eighth in scoring and field goal percentage.

Voted to the America East All-Rookie Team and the All-conference Third Team as a freshman. Finished seventh in the league in scoring at 15.0 ppg. Led the Dutchmen in scoring in 17 games, scored in double figures 22 times and had five games of 20 or more points. Averaged 15.7 ppg in conference play.
