College highlights at North Carolina
As a sophomore at North Carolina in 1998-99, was suspended by the NCAA for 18 of North Carolina's 34 games due to his playing in France the previous season. Evtimov and North Carolina believed that as long as Evtimov did not accept money to play in France, it would not affect his eligibility to return and play NCAA basketball. However, the NCAA ruled otherwise, and wiped out more than half of his sophomore season. In limited minutes in 16 games, averaged 4.4 ppg and 5.0 rpg.

As a freshman at North Carolina in 1996-97, averaged 1.5 ppg and 1.4 rpg in limited minutes as a reserve.

Playing for Dafni in Greece in 1999-2000, led team in rebounding (9.4 rpg) and league in steals (45, 1.73 spg) despite playing only 26.9 minutes per game. Also averaged 8.2 ppg. Dafni, a team which has struggled at the bottom of the Greek A-1 League in recent years, finished with an 8-18 record, good for a 12th place finish in the 14-team league.

In France in 1997-98, averaged 3.6 ppg and 3.3 rpg while playing 8.6 minutes per game in 16 games.
