MIAMI -- Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning, bothered by a sore left ankle, sat out Monday night's game against Patrick Ewing and the New York Knicks.

The Heat's All-Star center, who hurt his ankle Saturday in
Washington, didn't dress for the game, the first he has missed this
season. Miami guard Voshon Lenard, who has started 13 times this
season, also missed the game because of a lower abdominal strain.
After a slow start, the Heat turned in a stifling defensive performance and beat the Knicks 85-76.
Mourning said he won't travel to San Antonio for Tuesday night's
game against the defending NBA champion Spurs.
