SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Jason Williams sprained his right ankle and was taken to the locker room early in the third quarter of the Sacramento Kings' 112-110 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night.

Williams pulled up at midcourt with 11:21 left in the quarter. He collapsed in front of the scorers' table, and teammates helped him off the court as he favored the ankle.

Williams, the Kings' flamboyant point guard and floor leader, was having his best game since beginning the season on a five-game suspension for violating the league's drug policy. Williams had 11 points and seven assists in the first half with just one turnover.

The Kings already were playing without leading scorer and rebounder Chris Webber, who missed his second game with a sprained left ankle. Sacramento led Los Angeles 57-53 at halftime.
