PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers placed Matt Geiger on
the injured list and activated Pepe Sanchez.
Geiger, who underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on
Thursday, is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks. He has played in just
nine of the team's 31 games this season, averaging 6.2 points, 3.8
rebounds in 12.3 minutes.
During the 27-minute surgery in Birmingham, Ala., Geiger's
injury was confirmed to be chondromalacia, an arthritic condition
in the area of the kneecap. Geiger missed the beginning of the
season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee
during training camp and sat out the first nine games of the
season. He has not played since December 20 against the Utah Jazz.
Sanchez, who was on the injured list since December 23 with an
injury to his left hip, has seen action in 13 games, averaging 4.2
minutes. He has 14 assists and no turnovers.
