Iverson will not play vs. Bulls

PHILADELPHIA – Allen Iverson's bruised hip will keep him out tonight when the Philadelphia 76ers meet the Bulls in Chicago.
Iverson left the game Sunday against the Boston Celtics in the
second quarter with a bruised left hip. He said after the game he
did not expect the injury to keep him out long.
The 76ers will make a game-time decision tonight on whether Matt Geiger
returns from his sore right knee.
Iverson was hurt early in the first quarter when he dived for a
loose ball after knocking it away from Boston center Mark Blount.
After the game, which Philadelphia won 97-91, Iverson walked with
only a slight limp.
He said after the game that he didn't
expect the injury to keep him out long, but 76ers coach Larry Brown
said tests done Tuesday showed Iverson might have a slight muscle
tear.
"We've just got to be careful with him and make sure we're
doing the right thing," Brown said. "There's no need rushing him
back. It's obvious we need him, it's obvious he wants to play. ...
The thing is to just be real careful and see how it goes."
Brown said it's too early to say whether Iverson will play
Friday night, when the 76ers host the Sacramento Kings. The 76ers
have the NBA's best record, while the Sacramento Kings are tied
with Utah for the second-best record in the Western Division.
"I don't know," Brown said. "With him, you never know."
Iverson has already missed games this season because of injuries
to his shoulder, knee and right hip.
