Dunleavy says he enjoyed talk with Rockets

Associated Press

HOUSTON -- Mike Dunleavy, former head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers, said he has interviewed for the vacant head coaching position of the Houston Rockets.

Dunleavy met Monday with Rockets owner Les Alexander and general manager Carroll Dawson, Houston television station KRIV reported.

"From my perspective it was a good meeting. I enjoyed our talk. It's obviously a good opportunity,'' Dunleavy said.

After a season cut short for treatment of bladder cancer, former Rockets head coach Rudy Tomjanovich stepped down from his position last week after negotiating a settlement of the remaining two years of his contract with the Rockets worth $12 million.

Dunleavy said Rockets officials did not tell him when they are planning to make a hire.
