With the 2000 NBA Draft lottery having taken place on Sunday, we thought we'd take a look at recent lottery results to see if any not-so-bad teams got lucky with a high pick, and conversely, which bad teams got the shaft. The lottery team with the worst regular-season record has the most chances to gain the top selection, with chances decreasing among the lottery teams with better records. This year, the Nets got the No. 1 pick, followed by Vancouver, the Clippers, Chicago, Orlando, Atlanta, Chicago (from Washington), Cleveland, Houston, Orlando, Boston, Dallas and Orlando (again).
For our look at recent lottery history, we've included all lottery picks from last season, but because the lottery only decides the top three picks (the draft resumes normal worst-to-first order after that), we've listed only the three worst teams and any others that sneaked into the top three for the four previous seasons.
The teams are listed in order of record (worst-to-first), with the pick they received in the lottery listed in the second column.
