  RECAP | BOX SCORE

OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) -- J.R. Bremer's 3-pointer with 2.8 seconds left gave St. Bonaventure a 57-56 victory over Temple (No. 20 ESPN/USA Today, No. 23 AP) on Saturday night.

St. Bonaventure (12-2, 4-0 Atlantic 10 Conference) didn't lead in the second half until Bremer made the game-winning basket. Bremer, who missed the first eight games of the season with a broken right foot, was 4-of-5 from 3-point range in scoring 14 points. He had five points in the last 30 seconds to cap the Bonnies' comeback.

St. Bonaventure has its best record at this stage since the 1970 team was 13-1 on the way to advancing to the NCAA tournament Final Four.

St. Bonaventure trailed 49-44 with 4:15 to play, but then limited Temple (9-4, 3-1) to seven free throws the rest of the way. David Caper, who finished with 14 points, hit two 3-pointers and Bremer added five points as the Bonnies closed the gap.

Tim Winn added 11 points and Patricio Prato had 10 for St. Bonaventure.

Mark Karcher had 16 points and Quincy Wadley 13 for the Owls.

Temple led 33-22 at halftime, riding 50 percent field-goal shooting (14-of-28). But the Owls were limited to only five baskets in 27 second-half shots, an anemic 18.5 shooting percentage. St. Bonaventure, for its part, was 11-of-25 (44 percent) in the second half, including 7-of-14 from 3-point range.

It was the second straight year St. Bonaventure got a victory over Temple, but the Bonnies still trail 35-5 in the series.
