BOX SCORE
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama proved Saturday night it can win even when sensational freshman Gerald Wallace doesn't have a great game. Wallace, who was averaging 20.5 points, got into early foul trouble and scored only 10, but his teammates powered Alabama (No. 22 ESPN/USA Today, No. 18 Associated Press) to a 94-55 victory over North Texas. Wallace went 5-for-9 from the field. Forward Erwin Dudley went 8-for-9 on field-goal attempts and scored 19 points for Alabama (7-0). Dudley was named the game's most valuable player. Alabama scored 35 points off turnovers by North Texas. The Tide jumped to a 52-26 lead, shooting 62 percent from the field in the first half. Dudley, who also had nine rebounds, led a balanced Alabama attack. Rod Grizzard and Terrance Meade each had 16 points, while Kenny Walker had 13 and Gerald Wallace 10. The Eagles (1-7) were led by Jason Miller and Kenneth Mangrum, who scored 12 points each. The game was Alabama's first in Mobile in 34 years. "I am happy for the players. Every win is good to get," said Alabama coach Mike Gottfried, a native of Mobile. | ALSO SEE Men's College Basketball Scoreboard
