LAIE, Hawaii (Ticker) -- Aaron Harper made a game-tying layup with 12 seconds left in regulation and No. 25 Mississippi controlled overtime to upend 13th-ranked Southern California, 84-83, in the semifinals of the Yahoo! Sports Invitational.

Mississippi rallied from a 10-point deficit in the first half and closed the second half with an 8-2 run. After Brian Scalabrine's 3-pointer gave Southern California a 76-70 lead with 1:29 remaining, Rahim Lockhart made one of two free throws and David Sanders converted two from the line.

Scalabrine hit two free throws but Jason Holmes stole the ball from Nate Hair and made two from the line. Hair missed a pair of free throws with 27 seconds left in second half before Harper's layup knotted the contest at 78-78. Lockhart blocked a potential-winning basket by Scalabrine as time expired.

The Trojans were awful in overtime, going 0-for-5 from the field and committing three turnovers. They knotted the score at 80-80 on Sam Clancy's free throws but Holmes made two free throws and John Gunn added a basket with 2:22 left for a 84-81 lead.

Scalabrine hit two from the line two cut the deficit to one point and Richard Kirklin missed a 3-pointer. However, Scalabrine made a turnover and Tyler Murphy failed to connect on a 3-pointer. After Kirklin failed to convert from the free-throw line, Scalabrine's basket at the buzzer was off the mark.

Lockhart finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Jason Harrison scored 13 points for Ole Miss (11-0), which is off to its best start in 64 years. The 1936-37 squad also started the season with 11 wins.

The Rebels will play Iowa State in the championship game on Saturday.

Scalabrine had 27 points and eight rebounds and Clancy chipped in 18 points for the Trojans (8-1), take on BYU for third place on Saturday.
