Iowa 86, Penn St 85 RECAP | BOX SCORE

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) _ Luke Recker scored 20 points,
including two free throws that sealed Iowa's 86-85 victory over
Penn State on Saturday.
Recker hit two free throws with 1.3 seconds left to put the
Hawkeyes (12-2, 1-0 Big Ten) up 86-82. Joe Crispin's half-court
shot at the buzzer went in, but it wasn't enough for Penn State
(9-3, 0-2).
Crispin scored 12 of his 35 points in the final 3:32, and Tyler
Smith scored on a Crispin assist with 1:11 left to tie the game at
82-82.
Recker hit the go-ahead basket, an 18-foot jumper, with 54
seconds left, putting the Hawkeyes up 84-82.
Crispin missed a 3-point try on the following possession. B.J.
Vossekuil's put-back try spun around the rim before coming out, and
the ball went out of bounds to Iowa with 1.3 seconds left.
Iowa never trailed after Brody Boyd hit two 3-pointers in a 16-2
run that gave the Hawkeyes a 69-64 lead with 8:17 left.
Dean Oliver scored 18 points for the Hawkeyes.
Joe Crispin hit two free throws to give the Nittany Lions a
31-22 lead with 7:06 left in the first half, but Iowa responded
with a 12-2 run, taking a 34-33 lead with 2:59 left. Smith's
putback of a Joe Crispin miss gave Penn State a 40-38 lead going
into halftime.
Gyasi Cline-Heard had 19 points for Penn State, and Smith
finished with 12.
Marcus Banta played two minutes for Penn State, his first action
since his Dec. 30 arrest for allegedly tampering with a hotel fire
alarm. Banta was charged with risking a catastrophe, a misdemeanor.
