Timely jump shots, defensive stops, rebounds and overall leadership have made Peterson one of the most experienced players left in the tournament. Peterson's patience and timing make him even tougher to stop.
Peterson made himself a better shooter over the summer, focusing his game to become more of a threat. He's knocked down a number of clutch baskets in the NCAAs. Peterson has been both a slasher and a jump shooter in the tourney.
As his shooting has improved, Peterson has shown no ill signs of a right wrist he broke his sophomore season. The left-hander became a better defender while he recovered and has since brought his offense up to the same level.
While Mateen Cleaves gets most of the credit for getting the Spartans to the Final Four, Peterson's toughness carried the Spartans during Cleaves' injury. Peterson didn't let Michigan State lose ground in December.
