UCLA playbook: K.C. masterpiece

After a poor start, the Bruins have come on strong. Most of the thanks are due to Kansas City -- that's right. Two K.C. masterpieces have been doing some work of their own in Westwood, sparking a winning streak that saved the Bruins' tournament hopes.

Jaron Rush missed much of the season with a suspension, but since his return, Rush and fellow Kansas City native Earl Watson have made the Bruins a different team -- and saved their dance card.

ANIMATE THIS PLAY DIAGRAM WITH SHOCKWAVE
(A) Earl Watson (25) is the Bruins' leading distributor, at more than five assists per game. He gets the offense in motion, and is the coach on the floor.

(B) Jaron Rush's (4) return gives the Bruins another strong inside presence, and he also has the ability to go out on the floor and shoot.

(C) The Bruins use quick passes to keep the defense off balance and create one-on-one situations for Rush (4) and Watson (25).

(D) Watson (25) gets the ball on the wing. Jerome Moiso (0) catches the defense off balance with a back-screen for Rush. Watson serves up a pass to Rush, and the Bruins are rolling. No one wants to play this team in the postseason.
