Kansas Jayhawks
RECORD: 24-10 COACH: Roy Williams | SEASON RESULTS | SEASON STATS
OUTLOOK
  • First round: Defeated DePaul, 81-77
  • Second round: Lost to Duke, 69-64

Kansas finished an uncharacteristic fifth in the Big 12 this year, but the Jayhawks are a young team that starts three freshmen.

    Get the Coach's Edge

Let the experts at Coach's Edge get you ready for the NCAA Tournament with an inside look at the Kansas playbook.
Nick Collison, Drew Gooden and Kirk Hinrich may be the freshmen, but they are also the team leaders, which is somewhat surprising at this time of year. We're not talking about Eric Chenowith in that regard because he is having a bad season and is coming off the bench. And guard Jeff Boschee has not shot the ball well.

The Jayhawks have a hard time scoring. If a team can stop their fast break or their offensive rebounding, they don't have scorers in the halfcourt offense. If Boschee isn't making shots, few other players have stepped up.

While still a good defensive team, Kansas will make some young mistakes. The Jayhawks will either give teams a good game or really struggle. Kansas has been blown out more times this year than ever before. I don't think they will make much noise in the NCAA Tournament. Two wins in the tournament would be a surprise. -- Jon Sundvold, ESPN
