  • First round: Lost to North Carolina, 84-70

    Get the Coach's Edge

Let the experts at Coach's Edge get you ready for the NCAA Tournament with an inside look at the Missouri playbook.
Missouri is a wild and fun team. The Tigers shoot 3-pointers all the time and are dangerous offensively with a lot of weapons.

Keyon Dooling is a terrific lead guard for them. He doesn't have to score, but he is their leading scorer and controls the tempo. Kareem Rush, a freshman, is a fabulous talent who averaged better than 18 points a game in the conference. He can shoot the 3s and put the ball on the floor.

Clarence Gilbert has no conscience shooting from the outside. Brian Grawer can shoot 3s as well. Missouri is basically a perimeter-oriented team. They aren't very big. If they shoot 3s, they are extremely dangerous because teams have a hard time guarding them. If they miss 3s, though, they can get bombed in a hurry.

The Tigers' weakness is the lack of an inside game. They aren't very big defensively, so they give up rebounds. That's how teams have beaten them. If they win the first game of the NCAA Tournament, they will be a hard team for a second-round opponent to prepare for. Although most coaches teach their players to guard the basket and move out from there, Missouri is totally opposite. Teams should try to make the Tigers finish at the basket. -- Jon Sundvold, ESPN
