What people tend to overlook about North Carolina is that the Tar Heels are the leading field-goal shooting team in the country. They don't generate baskets in transition, getting help from their defense. The Tar Heels also don't blow down the floor. They just have players who can shoot against a set defense.

Joseph Forte, Jason Capel, Ed Cota and Max Owens off the bench are effective perimeter shooters. Kris Lang is effective around the basket, and Brendan Haywood leads the country in shooting at 73 percent. Most of his baskets are dunks, but he is a big player who can get position. If a team spends too much time on him, Forte, Capel and Owens will hurt teams from the perimeter. On four occasions, the Tar Heels have shot more than 70 percent in a half.

The Heels may have size, but they have problems against quick teams. Other than Cota, the Heels don't handle the ball well, which leads to turnovers.

It will all depend on the matchups. The Heels could be out quickly against a quick team that likes to pressure. But I wouldn't want to play North Carolina. You never know when the Tar Heels will make their shots. They are a dangerous team that could make a run into the Sweet 16. -- Dan Bonner, ESPN
