    Get the Coach's Edge

Let the experts at Coach's Edge get you ready for the NCAA Tournament with an inside look at the Southeast Missouri State playbook.

The way Gary Garner has coached Southeast Missouri State has been terrific. The Indians have only been in Division I since 1992.

They lost to Murray State in the Ohio Valley tournament final last year on a wild shot at the end, but they came back this year prepared to play. The Indians have the triangle offense down pat, much like the Chicago Bulls. Their strength is running the halfcourt offense. Mike Branson is a strong long-range shooter, and Roderick Johnson is a force inside at forward. A good leader by example, Johnson is a strong, physical rebounder who always seems to be where the ball is.

Southeast Missouri State has a nice guard combination, led by Michael Stokes, who runs the club well. The Indians get solid inside help from 6-foot-8 Brian Bunche off the bench.

Overall quickness is the Indians' biggest concern. They are good enough in the halfcourt, but they will probably need to beat a quick club if they hope to get beyond the second round. -- Larry Conley, ESPN
