| | ARLINGTON, Va. -- Big East Conference members Syracuse and St. John's received increased recognition in the latest ESPN/USA Today coaches' basketball poll, which was released Sunday night.

The Orangemen (14-0), who are the only remaining unbeaten team
in Division I, climbed to fifth. St. John's (12-2) upset
Connecticut on Sunday afternoon and re-entered the rankings for the first time since November at No. 23.
The Huskies (12-3) fell three spots to seventh after spending five weeks in the top five.
Cincinnati (16-1) received 30 first-place votes and a total of
773 points from 31 of the nation's coaches and remained in the
top spot. Arizona (15-2) garnered the other first-place vote and 733 points.
Stanford (14-1) and Auburn (15-1) complete the top five.
Riding a 13-game winning streak is sixth-ranked Duke (13-2),
which has not lost since the initial weekend of the season.
Eighth-ranked Kansas (14-2), Florida (13-2) and Michigan State (12-4) round out the top 10.
Beginning the next 10 is Indiana (13-2), which is followed by
Oklahoma State (13-1), Texas (11-4), Tennessee (15-2), Ohio
State (11-3), Oklahoma (14-2), Tulsa (16-1), Kentucky (11-5),
UCLA (10-4) and Utah (13-3).
North Carolina (11-6), which has lost its last two games, fell seven spots 21st.
Rounding out the poll are 22nd-ranked DePaul (11-4), No. 24 Vanderbilt (12-2) and Illinois (9-6).
Maryland and Temple dropped out of the rankings. | |
