NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma guard Nolan Johnson, the team's third-leading scorer with an average of 12.4 points per game, played just 10 minutes against Texas A&M on Tuesday due to a knee injury.
Johnson sprained a ligament in his right knee during Sunday's
practice, coach Kelvin Sampson said.
"He wanted to try it. Hindsight always being 20-20, he probably
shouldn't have played tonight but he wanted to try," Sampson said.
"When he couldn't go, there was no use playing him."
Sampson said Johnson would take Wednesday and Thursday off, then
see if he can practice Friday. The 22nd-ranked Sooners play host to
No. 5 Kansas on Saturday.
"He's got to be effective," Sampson said. "He couldn't go
half speed and play with these guys tonight, so he's going to have
to be healthy on Saturday."
