WASHINGTON, D.C. -- McDonough Arena is a long-standing building with the aroma of tradition, and was where Georgetown head coach Craig Esherick played his home games when he was a Hoya player. Esherick's picture, battling for a rebound wearing No. 10, is in the front hall near those of Patrick Ewing and Alonzo Mourning, and above several display cases holding silver trophies for Big East titles, the 1984 National Championship trophy and a championship ring. Inside, there are numerous framed NBA jerseys from Hoya greats Sleepy Floyd, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning,
Dikembe Motumbo, Allen Iverson, David Wingate, Othella Harrington and others. On the far side of the arena are simple banners noting the Hoyas NCAA and NIT appearances. The last three are from the NIT, a trend Esherick and his seniors wish to end.
