BOX SCORE
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) _ Jimmy Blanchard threw four touchdown passes and Charles Dunn rushed for 175 yards as Portland State built a big early lead during a 52-13 victory over Idaho State on Saturday night. Blanchard started the scoring with an 18-yard TD pass to Cheo Angel and the Vikings (3-1, 2-0 Big Sky) never looked back. Defensively, Portland State blitzed the Bengals (2-2, 0-2) all night. Idaho State quarterback Shane Griggs left after aggravating a knee injury and may be lost for the season. The Vikings kept the pressure on backup Kevin McCarthy. Dan Franz added a 41-yard field goal and Dunn scored on a 1-yard run. Portland State increased the lead to 17-0 after the first quarter on a 41-yard field goal by Dan Franz and a 1-yard run by Dunn. Pete Garces kicked a 30-yard field goal in the third quarter, the first points for Idaho State. The Vikings answered when Blanchard and Angel connected again on a 27-yard TD play to make it 38-3. ``We didn't play well and it started from the very beginning of the game,'' said Idaho State coach Larry Lewis.
