PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) _ Saturday's was not an ordinary game for the University of Idaho football team.

In an offensive attack not seen in perhaps more than 20 years, Idaho ran over North Texas 28-10 before 16,636 fans at Martin Stadium in each team's Big West opener.

Idaho running backs Anthony Tenner and Michael Moody each gained more than 100 yards rushing en route to a season best 286 yards on the ground. The Vandals (3-2), 1-0 in the Big West, often known for their potent passing offense managed just 27 passing yards.

But the biggest play may have come on the defensive side of the ball, as Chris Nofoaiga recovered a Ja'Quay Wilburn fumble 89 yards for Idaho's second score late in the first half. It was Nofoaiga's second fumble return for a touchdown on the season. He also made 9.5 tackles including three behind the line of scrimmage.

Moody, a senior, gained a career high 157 yards on 23 carries along with scoring one touchdown. Tenner, meanwhile, racked up 114 yards on 25 carries and scored two touchdowns.

North Texas saw its record fall to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Wilburn, North Texas' leading rusher, was stifled by the Idaho defense, as he gained only 65 yards on 21 attempts. The Vandals ranked fourth nationally for rush defense coming into the game.

Idaho junior quarterback Ed Dean completed just two of 11 passes for four yards. Senior Greg Robertson replaced Dean with 8:04 to go in the third quarter and completed two of three passes for 23 yards, but also threw an interception.

North Texas scored its only touchdown in the first half after recovering an Idaho fumble and running it 3 yards into the end zone. The team also used a quarterback-by-committee with an ineffective Jason Attaway being replaced by Richard Bridges.

The Vandals' swarming defense left little time for the Eagles' quarterbacks to throw as Bridges completed just six of 21 passes along with throwing an interception.
